Presenter view on Zoom, without showing your notes
Presenter View is built for two screens, so on Zoom with one screen, sharing your screen shows your notes to everyone. You can work around it natively - this guide covers the window-share trick and the rest - but the clean fix is to keep your notes on a second device with NextSlide and screen-share just the slides. Here's both, native workarounds first.
Why Zoom shows your notes
Zoom shares a whole screen or a single window. Presenter View, meanwhile, assumes two screens - your notes on one, the slides on the other. With one monitor, starting the slideshow puts Presenter View on your only screen, so when you share that screen, the audience sees your notes, your timer, and your next-slide preview. The fixes below all come down to one thing: share only the clean slides, and keep the notes somewhere the audience can't see.

Workaround 1: share the Slide Show window
- Start the slideshow and switch to Presenter View.
- In Zoom, click Share, then choose Window.
- Select the Slide Show window - not the Presenter View window.
This is the most reliable single-screen method: attendees see the slides, you keep your notes. The catch is that it's fiddly - you have to pick the right window every time, the two PowerPoint windows look alike, and if you grab the wrong one the whole room sees your notes.
The clean way (below) skips this entirely: with your notes on a second device, there's no right-or-wrong window to pick - you just share the slides.

Workaround 2: use a second monitor
With two screens, set your displays to Extend, keep Presenter View on your laptop, and in Zoom share the monitor that shows the clean slides. This works well - but it needs a second monitor, which is exactly what most people presenting from a laptop don't have.
Workaround 3: the single-monitor scramble
The other single-screen options are messier. You can run the slides in a window (Slide Show → Set Up Slide Show → Browsed by an individual (window)) and share that window - but the slides aren't full-screen and the controls hide in the corner. Or you can share a portion of your screen from Zoom's Advanced tab - but the slides can come through fuzzy and low-res to your audience. Both work in a pinch; neither is clean.

The clean way: notes on a second device
